Albany Utility Board Selects McLean Engineering for Pole Attachment Inventory and GIS Mapping Services
Albany (Ga.) Utility Board (AUB) recently selected McLean Engineering Company to provide an inventory of their joint use pole attachments and to provide GIS mapping and verification of the utility’s assets.
As part of its joint use attachment agreements, AUB is due to conduct a pole attachment count and joint use inventory on its system. The utility selected McLean Engineering to provide this inventory in an effort to improve billing accuracy and clean up late transfers so unnecessary poles can be removed. As part of the inventory process, McLean is also helping AUB identify obvious safety violations created by joint-users as well as update the GIS data associated with pole locations and the attachments.
“Our last audit was done in 2006,” said Jimmy Norman, AUB Light Director, as quoted in the Albany Herald. “Using a very conservative estimate, we expect to realize 4 percent in additional revenue from assets attached to our 11,000 utility poles that are not currently being paid for.”
