Crisp County Power Selects McLean Engineering for Pole Attachment Inventory, Attacher Management and GIS Consulting

Crisp County Power Commission, based in Cordele, Ga., recently selected McLean Engineering Company to provide an inventory of and manage all elements of their joint use pole attachments.

As part of its joint use attachment agreements, Crisp County Power is due to conduct a pole attachment inventory on its system. Crisp County selected McLean Engineering to provide this inventory in an effort to improve the accuracy of joint use attachments and clean up later transfers while improving relationships with its attachers. McLean is also helping Crisp County manage all elements of the joint use attachments, including notifications, transfers, the NJUNS process, and engineering as necessary.

McLean’s Attacher Management Program (AMP) oversees a utility's contracts and day-to-day implementation of all obligations for pole attachment and joint use agreements, while improving relationships with its attachers as well as save the utility money lost due to an inefficient attachment process. Crisp County and McLean will collaborate via McLean Engineering’s MapLayers hosted GIS platform.  “Joint use management is a challenge and can consume a lot of time. We rely on McLean's expertise to manage those burdens for us. This frees up staff time, improves record-keeping, provides consistency for our attachers, and is revenue positive for CCPC,” said Michael Ivey, CCPC’s Manager of Technical Services.

Crisp County has also requested McLean to provide consulting support for its implementation of new GIS and Engineering Analysis software tools.  McLean will provide mapping and software subject matter expertise to this important modernization of Crisp County’s systems.

“We had real concerns about making sure the implementation of our GIS and engineering analysis system went well. McLean's extensive expertise with multiple mapping platforms and technologies plus their long history in utility engineering and analysis made them a natural choice. It helps to have a partner well-versed in these areas who can help us navigate through the minefield of potential problems. We want this done right the first time," said Ivey.
